09.11.08 — DAY 8: DAMON SPEAKS OUT AGAINST SARAH PALIN
The usually diplomatic Matt Damon, in town recently for the ONEXONE fundraiser, told Entertainment Tonight Canada it’s ridiculous to nominate Vice-President Republican hopeful Sarah Palin “because of her plumbing. She’s a hockey mom from Alaska who’s going to face down Russian President Vladimir Putin? It’s absurd.” What he said.
MOVIE VIRGINS
The Cadillac Insider has heard of a movie premiere, but this is a little odd! The Brothers Grimm stars Adrien Brody, Mark Ruffalo, and Rachel Weisz informed The Cadillac Insider they were eager to see their film because no one had seen it yet. Also, Edward Norton had yet to see his film, Pride and Glory. All four actors left the theatre with smiles on their faces, so The Cadillac Insider can assume it was a thumbs-up night all around.
BROMANCE LOVE CONTINUES
During the ‘What Doesn’t Kill You’ press conference yesterday, TIFF’s MVP of the year, Mark Ruffalo began tearing up over his performance in the film. Ruffalo portrays writer-director Brian Goodman in his real-life story. Unable to answer a reporter’s question, his co-star Ethan Hawke chimed in. “When you love someone and they invest their faith in you, it’s a big responsibility to go out there and do it everyday,” said Hawke. Ruffalo responded with a big bear hug to thank Hawke for coming to his rescue.
Speaking of Ruffalo, who is of Italian and French-Canadian descent, told The Cadillac Insider Toronto has a special place in his heart as this was the city he met his wife since 2000, Sunrise Coigney. The venue? “The Four Seasons,” he said grinning ear-to-ear.
