06.09.08 — DAY 3: ARE YOU STILL BREATHING?
THE BEST QUIPS, NEWS, AND GOSSIP FROM THE PARTIES FRIDAY NIGHT… AND WITH APOLOGIES TO THE NEW YORK TIMES — IT’S NOT FIT TO PRINT, BUT FOR OUR CADILLAC FANS IT’S ALL KOSHER!
VERONICA MARS BOMBSHELL
Character actor Enrico Colantoni and The Cadillac Insider caught up at the ETalk Festival Party, and he reveals his new Canuck/US production is a big hit, but he’s a tad worried about its future. “We debuted during the summer when nothing was on, so I like to be cautiously optimistic — especially with the fall season upon us.” So what’s the 411 on the Veronica Mars movie circulating on every cult-fan site? “You know what — there are talks,” confirms the Canadian actor. “Nothing’s official but they’re talking about it. Cult shows have translated very well into the film arena.” Perhaps we’ll see Colantoni, a self-proclaimed Toronto Maple Leafs fans, here next year promoting that very film. For his sake let’s hope that die-hard Montreal Candiens fan Viggo Mortensen isn’t in town.
EXCLUSIVE NEWS: SOAP OPERA SCOOP GALORE
Canadian film icon Tonya Lee Williams, founder of Reel World Film Festival, and I go way back thanks to our soap roots. The Young and the Restless star told the Cadillac Insider exclusively that she is returning to daytime TV’s juggernaut soap this fall. “I’m coming back,” she screams. “I have no idea for how long or what my storyline is yet, but I’ll stay as long as I don’t have to sign a long-term contract. I’m all for recurring.” Good thing, too, since Y&R is on fire these days and many critics now consider it one of the best shows on television, daytime, and prime time.
JENNIFER’S REVENGE? DISCUSS…
Gossip hounds are buzzing over the biggest story this side of TIFF since Colin Farrell donated money to a homeless man! Ready? Apparently, Jennifer Aniston is angling to “run into” Brad Pitt, and according to sources is, “going to cause a lot of commotion.” No, she’s not hoping for a reunion, she “just want to break bread without Angelina Jolie around,” adds a snitch close to the former Friends superstar. Too bad The Cadillac Insider learned, “Brad is doing everything to avoid her. He’s a control freak and he may avoid his film’s after parties, in fact.” Stay tuned.
PRIME MULRONEY TALK
Guess who The Cadillac Insider spotted at the fantastic eTalk Festival Party? Canadian Idol host and eTalk Daily co-host Ben Mulroney and I quickly caught up after along hiatus of not seeing each other. His dates? His parents — Mila and former Prime Minister Brian Mulroney. Ben boasted, “Look who my dates are! I am so thrilled they actually agreed to come out tonight.” It’s rare that Ben hangs out with his parents at professional event, so it was actually to see his parents drop it like it’s hot to support their son now that he’s his own person.
TIE DOMI: HE SHOOTS, HE CASHES IN
Now that hockey superstar Tie Domi is retired, how is he filling up his day? The macho man tells The Cadillac Insider, “yoga and a lot of spinning!” And what is he doing professionally? “I’m an entrepreneur, and that’s all I’m saying,” he generously offers. Okay, then.
MONIKA SCHNARRE IS THE NEW FLIPPER
Superstar model and former soap actress Monika Schnarre informed The Cadillac Insider she is over acting, and focusing on flipping houses. “I have a few TV shows in development. I love renovating homes. It’s my new passion.” So who is she looking forward to stalking this festival? When I suggested Brad Pitt, the leggy stunner retorted, “Angelina Jolie!” She’s here all week, folks!
THE NEW MADONNA?
She’s not me, and she never will be…. My BFF, nip/tuck’s Kelly Carlson, who is a proud part-time Toronto resident, by the way, tells me she read the scandalous Madonna biography written by Christopher Ciccone in a few hours. “I love Madonna to death, so any new insight is always welcomed. But wow — there were some shockers in there. Her brother was the original Madonna fan. He grew up with her. It’s so Sister Dearest. I can’t wait to see Madonna’s concert this fall. I hear it’s sweet and sticky,” she quips. Come to think of it, wouldn’t the nip/tuck starlet be the perfect Madonna in a movie adaptation of the book.
NINA DOBREV IS THE NEW RACHEL ADAMS
Degrassi: The Next Generation and American Mall breakout star Nina Dobrev told The Cadillac Insider the only star she wants to meet this week is her idol, Rachel McAdams. The gorgeous ingénue, who is filming the new Transformer movie, hopes, “If I had one tenth the success Rachel has had I’d be very happy and satisfied,” she dished.
DIDDY MIA!
For the first time in the Much Music’s Festival Party history (it’s not owned by CHUM anymore, what a difference a rich corporation makes; it’s the best festival party I’ve ever been to, ever), the boldest of bold face celebrities actually showed up on the dot for the first big party of the festival, long before even some of the press did! Why? Diddy, ‘yo! The artist formerly known as Puff Daddy opened the official eTalk Daily live show with a kick-ass concert. Too bad the superstar failed to show up for a contractual sit-down interview with eTalk Daily before his performance. He totally bailed, but thankfully he showed up for his big close up. D’oh!
PAMELA WALLIN — TIFF’s PARIS HILTON?
The former US Consulate General Pamela Wallin and I exchanged Intel on national security issues. Okay, I’m so lying, but the honourable Corner Gas guest star told The Cadillac Insider she still lives part-time New York and Toronto. “I have the best of both worlds,” she pointed out. As for partying at TIFF, Wallin said, “I’m having the best time ever.” And I believe her.
LAINEY IN THE CITY
The gossip queen of Canada, Elaine “Lainey” Lui is working her you-know-what off! We caught up and dished our hearts off at the eTalk party, and I have to give “my straight wife” a shout out because she’s the hardest working biatch in the industry. And she’s the only scene-stealer in the business. Simply put, she’s the Perez Hilton of Hollywood North with class, people! As for her TIFF survival strategy, she tells The Cadillac Insider, “I only start drinking at 11 pm.” Wish I thought of that.
Until tomorrow… peeps!
PS… Did you know Cadillac hired Toronto Firemen as drivers for all the celebrities this week? Talk about hot and sizzling service! Here’s a shout out to Simon, the most heroic of drivers because he had to drive moi around! That’s totally more dangerous than running into a burning fire, non?

I just wanted to wish Tonya the best with her new venture! I hope to see her in a new film soon…
